Rest In Peace: Pimp C

Believe it or not, it's been a year since Chad Butler aka Pimp C was found dead in his Hotel room from an accidental overdose. He was one half of the Houston duo UGK, and built a reputation pimp filled lyrics and being outspoken in interviews. UGK fans wondered if the death of Pimp C would have an effect on UGK's music, but Bun-B is still hard at work on the duo's upcoming album UGK 4 Life. Before Pimp C passed, he laid down verses for numerous songs like many other late musicians. In the vid below, artists like David Banner, Young Jeezy, Big Boi, and many more say their favorite Pimp C lines.

R.I.P. 2pac (1971-1996)

I find it hard to believe it's been 12 years from today since we lost the legendary Tupac Shakur. Though he is not here he lives eternally thru his music. We will forever remember Pac's music, impact, and legacy. Check one of my favorite Pac joints below:

R.I.P. Chris Hunter (1984-2006)

It's been two years since my boy Chris' passing. Still very unfortunate and devastating till this day. Here's an excerpt from his memorial page on myspace:

Los Angeles Times... what happen to Chris Hunter Officers Kill Man in Santa Monica Police say he was armed; his father questions that. It's the third fatal shooting involving law enforcement in two days in the L.A. area. By Marla Cone and Carla Rivera, Times Staff Writers September 5, 2006 Santa Monica police shot and killed a 21-year-old man early Monday near a nightclub after he fled from officers and then turned toward them while reportedly carrying a handgun, police said. It was the third fatal officer-involved shooting in Los Angeles County over the Labor Day holiday. Shortly after midnight, Santa Monica officers were sent to Club Twenty Twenty at 2020 Wilshire Blvd. to deal with complaints of a "large fight," said Lt. Frank Fabrega. When they arrived, Fabrega said, a witness told them that a man was armed with a handgun, and when the officers tried to detain the man, he fled on foot. The officers chased the man, identified by the county coroner's office as Christopher Lamont Hunter of Los Angeles, and when he began to turn toward them, they could see he was carrying a handgun, Fabrega said. "Officers, fearing for their safety, shot the suspect," he said. A gun was found nearby, he said. Paramedics pronounced Hunter dead at the scene. Hunter's father, Milton, said he went to the scene Monday morning and witnesses told him that his son raised his hands before being shot and that they did not see a gun in his son's hands. He said his son was on probation for breaking into a car but would not have confronted police. "When he saw trouble, he started getting out," Milton Hunter said. "He didn't hang around." The Los Angeles County district attorney's office is investigating, said spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons. She declined comment on the investigation. Police officials did not name the officers involved in the incident. An autopsy was expected to be conducted Monday...

Rest In Peace Chris Hunter, gone but never forgotten.

R.I.P. Aaliyah (1979-2001)

It's been 7 years ago since Aaliyah passed. Still a sad story considering she was so young, beautiful, and she was still growing in her career. She will forever be missed.

R.I.P. Isaac Hayes (1942-2008)

It's a sad weekend in black entertainment with the death of Bernie Mac, and now legendary singer Isaac Hayes. Isaac Hayes has passed away at age 65 due to unknown causes. Earlier today, Hayes wife found him laying near a treadmill and was immediately taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
Hayes is well known for creating numerous soul albums, the theme to Shaft (which he also wrote and produced the soundtrack), and his character as The Chef on the animated series "South Park". Isaac Hayes has made various appearances in films and TV shows ranging from "Hustle & Flow" to "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air". His music has been sampled by hip hop artists such as Notorious BIG "Warning", Wu-Tang Clan on "I Can't Goto Sleep", and Ludacris on "Southern Fried Intro". I send out my condolences to the Hayes family.

Bernie Mac's made appearances in numerous films ranging from Friday to Transformers, and he had his own sitcom "The Bernie Mac" show. He was also considered the highlight of the "Kings of Comedy" tour which featured fellow comedians Steve Harvey, Cedric the Entertainer, and D.L. Hughley.
